Larnaca is the third largest city of Cyprus, situated on the south coast, 45 Km from Nicosia the capital and 65 Km from Limassol. It is the international gateway to Cyprus with the brand new Hermes International Airport on the outskirts of the city. It also has a commercial port and an international marina.

Larnaca was firstly known as Kition and legend has it that it took its name by Noah's grandson Khittim, who founded the city. The name Larnaca was given from the word "Larnax" which means sarcophagus, many of which were found in the excavations in many parts of the city.

Larnaca is the birth place of Zenon, the founder of the famous Stoic school of Philosophy and the second home of St. Lazarus who arrived here after his resurrection and became the patron saint of Larnaca. It is a very popular tourist destination due to its natural beauty, fine climate, safe beaches and hospitable inhabitants.
